A native of North Carolina, Christopher Bensen, M.D., FAAOS, received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina during which he received the prestigious Charles H. Herndon Award from the National Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation for his research on bone grafts. Following his residency, he returned to UNC for a sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship and served as an assistant team physician for the Tar Heels.
Dr. Bensen is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sport Medicine. His clinical interests include:
Dr. Bensen was the team orthopaedic surgeon for Appalachian State University, Lees-McRae College and Avery High School in North Carolina. He has authored or co-authored four book chapters and numerous scientific journal articles and has given more than 20 national and international presentations on his research. Lindsay Hickerson, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. She is a graduate of a level 1 trauma center, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she also completed her orthopedic surgery residency. She has a background in sports medicine as a certified athletic trainer working with Division 1 athletes.
Dr. Hickerson treats acute and chronic fractures and injuries of the joints, upper extremity and lower extremity.

Amanda Meyer is a certified physician assistant who offers diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation for orthopedic conditions and assists with a variety of surgical cases. She is also a certified athletic trainer who has worked with elite level athletes, including USA Hockey Women's National Teams.
Amanda is a graduate of Bay Path University Physician Assistant Program in East Longmeadow, MA.
