Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Gustavo Barrazueta, M.D., received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery through the Tufts Affiliated Residency Program at Tufts Medical Center, New England Baptist Hospital and Netwon-Wellesley Hospital in Boston, MA. He also completed a hand and upper extremity surgery fellowship at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH.

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Monica L. Omey, M.D., joined Carlsbad Medical Center and Pecos Valley Physician Group in early 2023. Dr. Omey brings 24 years of experience to the community. She is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she also earned her medical degree. Dr. Omey completed her orthopedic surgery residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and a sports medicine fellowship at Boston's Children's Hospital/Harvard Program.
